Context

With more than 30,000 clients and over 65,000 contracts, BAWAG P.S.K. Leasing is one of Austria’s top five lease finance companies. BAWAG P.S.K. Leasing was created from a merger as recently as 1999 (adopting its current name in 2001) and has quickly expanded into new markets. Their first venture was into Hungary and the Czech Republic in 2001, followed by Slovakia in 2003 and Poland just three years later.

Challenge

The company had already adopted CALMS as its Customer Acquisition and Lease Management platform in 2006 to manage its very diverse operations in Austria. BAWAG offers a rich mix of finance and insurance products to dealers, retailers and direct sales channels for both automotive and business finance. Completely brand independent, they also offer white-label finance for a number of manufacturers. In addition to asset, automotive and real estate finance products, BAWAG supports the automotive fleet business through a separate fleet company.

Following the success of their domestic system, the board of directors decided to adapt the solution to meet the needs of all their CEE subsidiaries.

Solution

CALMS was expanded to become a single solution spanning five national borders, supporting four currencies and five languages. CALMS, hosted in Vienna, went fully live in all five countries in a very short timeframe. It supports over 200 regular and ad hoc users and hosts a portfolio of more than 65,000 contracts.

Results

Since expanding the CALMS platform to its CEE subsidiaries, BAWAG has made substantial administrative savings as well as gaining a single view of operations. Processes have improved to the point where monthly reporting and consolidation, which used to take two weeks, are now completed in just a few days. CALMS helps the company to rationalize its operations from Austria across Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland

A company spokesperson recently endorsed the system as robust, stable and delivering the highest levels of functionality, offering all the business agility BAWAG needs. The fleet module in particular was singled out as a key factor in the high profits enjoyed by their fleet division.
