Technical Business Analyst

As a Technical Business Analyst you will analyse customer requirements in order to design efficient and effective processes that meets the customer’s needs. You will then translate this information into detailed system requirements for input to the solution delivery stage.

Requirements of the role

  • Experience on a point of sale or proposal management system and in the asset finance industry would be helpful
  • Workflow and Configuration specification and high level design concepts
  • Impact of non-functional requirements on system interface considerations
  • Working on client sites and face to face with customers
  • Writing functional requirements to meet client specification
  • Writing use cases to meet functional requirements
  • Transfer of business knowledge and expertise to other employees
  • Resolving client issues and queries concerning business functionality requirements
  • Investigation and resolution of business systems issues
  • Testing of solution delivery
  • Presales activities
  • Involvement in the software development lifecycle, especially user acceptance testing and system implementation

Person specification

  • This role requires a technical background paired with an analysis background – ideally former developers turned business analysts or technical analysts
  • Well-developed analytical capabilities
  • Ability to take ownership and be responsible for actions
  • Attention to detail, with ability to produce clear, concise documentation
  • Ability to be flexible with respect to working hours, according to operational requirements
  • Excellent communication skills when speaking with customers and working on client sites (written and verbal)
  • Enthusiastic and motivated
  • Building good working relationships with customers
  • Ability to work as part of a small team
  • Self-motivated and able to work on own initiative
  • Professional image (client facing role)
  • Well-developed time management skills, with ability to work to tight deadlines, whilst multi-tasking

Description of the role

  • To understand the complexities of the customer detailed requirements
  • To design detailed workflow/Configuration documentation
  • To configure the FMO product to implement the designs
  • Excellent analytical abilities
  • Ability to produce high level estimates
  • Technical skills to perform analysis of design of  system issues
  • Strong client communications skills – ability to work under pressure with demanding clients
  • Strong trouble-shooting / analytical skills to resolve issues within short timeframes
  • Familiarity of working with different interfaces types, e.g ability to understand XML structures
  • Familiarity with OO principles
  • Familiarity with Java, e.g. using JavaDocs
  • Experience with databases, understanding data modelling, writing database queries, SQL, Oracle, Liquibase
  • Ability to take clients requirement and fit the FMO product to suit the needs
