JavaScript Developer

Develop and maintain core JavaScript framework, with an eye toward constant refactoring for performance; develop robust JavaScript widgets and interface functionality using dojo and custom framework architecture.

Requirements of the role

  • Commercial experience building Ajax-driven web apps with one or more major JS app frameworks e.g. Angular, Dojo, Ember
  • Commercial experience with test-driven development and one or more JS testing libraries e.g. Jasmine, QUnit
  • Solid understanding of, and ability work with if necessary, raw HTML, CSS and JavaScript
  • Good understanding of surrounding web technologies i.e. HTTP, TLS
  • Some experience with front-end build tools e.g. Node, Grunt, Gulp, Bower
  • Some experience building mobile and/or responsive web apps
  • Some experience in an Agile development environment
  • Some experience with the Java stack, or even other server-side technologies
  • Proven analytical capabilities
  • Ability to take ownership and be responsible for actions
  • Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal)
  • Attention to detail, with ability to produce clear, concise documentation
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Self-motivated and able to work on own initiative

  • Well-developed time management skills, with ability to work to tight deadlines, whilst multi-tasking

  • Working alongside server-side developers to realise features end-to-end
  • Contributing to internal guidelines, reference materials and training

  • CALMS is White Clarke Group’s flagship asset finance product, and leads the industry worldwide. It has a Java server-side stack and a rich JavaScript front-end that runs in the browser. We are looking for a JavaScript developer to work on the CALMS front-end, developing new features for our clients and improving core functionality.
  • The person we’re looking for is proficient in building robust, performant JavaScript components and applications, but still comfortable dipping into the server-side every now and again.
